David Bowie – Rock ‘N’ Roll Suicide (Live in 1990)

This is the only video of “Rock ‘N’ Roll Suicide” that I could find on YouTube, and it’s a great performance. As a song, it’s a fitting epitaph for one of the greatest artists of all time. “Rock ‘N’ Roll Suicide” is the closing track on The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, and on many tours it was the closing song of the night. In the context of the Ziggy Stardust story, it’s a song about the collapse of an exhausted rock star. On it’s own, outside of that context, it’s a song about being there for someone struggling in their time of need. In a sense, it’s the way David Bowie was there for his audience through his songs and music. Either way, a gripping song and a powerful delivery.
